A Great Idea for Valentine's Day

This project makes a cute decoration and even a greater gift for Valentine's Day. You will need paper or even better a canvas (Michael's sells them very cheap). You will also need pink or red paint. Paint your child's hands (one at a time). Place them upside down in a v shape. It will form a heart. It is so simple but so cute. I have my students write a poem or something special and then we glue it to the back.

Fun Party Favors
My daughter went to a birthday party last month and they gave away a very cute favor. When we arrived she was handed a pair of pink pjs. Every girl at the party had the same pair. Their ages ranged from 3-9. It was so adorable. The pictures were super cute too!

My daughter also loved getting a CD of her friends favorite songs and a disposable camera to use during the party.

www.familyfun.com also has great party ideas for cakes and all of your party needs! I use this website all the time!

Baby Journal
When my daughter was born I started a picture/journal for her entire first year. I would take her picture every Sunday and write a journal entry on my computer. I would write milestones or anything special that happened that week. It was very simple and it was so fun to see how she changed he week. It was also a great way to create my very own personalized baby book. Now that she is four she loves looking at it too. I am so glad I took the time to do it. I would recommend this idea for any mom to be!

Family Portrait
About every six months I have my daughter draw a picture of our family. I usually do it on something other than paper that will last longer. My favorite is a piece of pottery. I had her draw a picture in pencil on an over sized spoon rest. I went over the pencil with pottery paint. (We were at a local pottery store) The store fired and glazed it. Now I can keep this special portrait forever. I absolutely love it. Another favorite is on a canvas I bought from Michael's craft store. They are relatively cheap there. I framed it and hung it in our family/play room.

Annual Christmas Photo Album
When my daughter was born I started a Christmas album. Each year I add pictures to our Christmas album. I always put her picture with Santa, a picture of our family, a picture of our tree, and our Christmas card. I also write what my daughter got for Christmas that year. It is so fun to look at how everyone has changed each year. It is also a great coffee table book for the holidays. It's never too late to start one of your own.
